The WZ-16 engine is a new turboshaft engine jointly developed on a 50/50 equal basis by AECC Dong'an and Safran Helicopter Engines. It has obtained type certificates from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It is suitable for 7-8 ton class twin-engine helicopters and 13 ton class triple-engine helicopters.
